IV. My Reaction to Murder on the Orient Express

B. Reaction Point - appeal
  • Where the result is unknown to the last place and the personality character are the good points of this novel.
  • Among the novels is a lot of quotes from Hercule Poiro. For example "The golden gold dresses a noblemis into a beauty”.

B. Reaction Point - protagonist
  • Protagonist is main character.
  • The main character Hercule Poirot is a very distinct person.
  • Because hero Hercule Poirot is from the French-speaking world, it will accentuate when excited or mix French during the interval between English.

C. Reaction Point - denouement
  • Denouement is the ending of a story or a plot.
  • I do not know the murderer until the end, and it is fun to think who is the culprit.
  • The murderer is 12 other than the hero riding the express.

D. My General Opinion
I liked this work from before.
However, I did not know much about the author, the year when this work was made, and detailed contents.
So I was very happy to know on what occasion Agatha Christie is, what kind of work I am writing, when "Orient express murder case" was created.
From now on I will know many things as a fan of her work and I want to read her works.

My Featured Song

Don't let me down by Beatles

Don't let me down, don’t let me down
Don't let me down, don’t let me down

Nobody ever loved me like she does
Oh, she does , yeah she does
And if somebody loved me like she do me
Oh, she do me, yes, she does

Don't let me down, don’t let me down
Don't let me down, don’t let me down

I'm in love for the first time
Don't you know it's gonna last
It's a love that lasts forever
It's a love that had no past(Seeking past)

Don't let me down, don’t let me down
Don't let me down, don’t let me down

And from the first time that she really done me
Oh, she done me, she done me good
I guess nobody ever really done me
Oh, she done me she done me good

Don't let me down, don’t let me down
Heeeee, don't let me down

Don't let me down
Don't let me down, don’t let me down
Can you dig it ?  Don't let me down

I. About the Song

John Lennon is showing "Julia" by an album " The Beatles" in 1958 and is dealing with the love ballade offered to Yoko Ono. And this song is also the love ballade offered to her.
The title "Don't let me down" is addressed to her.

This song was recorded by a common "Get back session" in 1969.
And "Get back" and this song are a single, and these were seeing an eye on the day.
It should be the preceding single of the album "Get back" by schedule, but sale was canceled after all for the album.

The source at this time was decorated and corrected by Phil Specter.
And it was sold as the album "Let it be" in 1970, but this song was removed from record songs.
But it was recorded in a sold album "Let it be‥.Naked" in 2003 as the one has removed the decoration of the orchestra and the chorus added by Phil Specter.

Further, the one recorded on January 28, 1969 was adopted as a single board.
But the album "Let it be ... Naked" adopted the version which edited the played one by roof live in the Apple headquarters on January 30.

IV. My Reaction

A. Reaction Point -Lyrics
  • Lyrics is the words to a song. Lennon is including feeling to Yoko in this song.
  • 1,Nobody ever loved me like she does Oh, she does, yeah she does And if somebody loved me like she do me Oh, she do me, yes she does 2, I'm in love for the first time Don't you know It's gonna last It's a love that lasts forever It's a love that had no past
  • It's being transmitted how much John is remembering Yoko by 2 paragraphs.

B. Reaction Point - Point of view
  • Point of view is the perspective from which a story is told in a song's lyrics.
  • And from the first time that she really done me Oh,she done me, she done me good I guess nobody ever really done me Oh, she done me she done me good
  • This paragraph shows that Yoko is loving Lennon, too.
The feeling that Lennon is painful again is being transmitted.
I thought it was also included in the meaning to tell "the world, feature and my friend don't make me fall into these lyrics to a life, and not to make them disappointed".

C. Reaction Point - Song chorus
  • Song chorus is a catchy musical phrase that makes a song popular and memorable.
  • A phrase as "Don't let me down" is used 18 times in this song.
  • It's being transmitted by using it repeatedly many times that I'm strong in expectation.
The place where Lennon is singing this phrase so that he may cry also appeals.

D. My General Opinion

The place where Lennon's expectation is being transmitted was very striking, and this song also came to like rhythm well.
My father liked Beatles originally, and I was often listening to their song from small time, too.

But I had not listened to this song, and when hearing for the first time, an impact was received, so I chose this song.

My Featured Poem

 Daffodils

Narcissus

I wandered lonely as a cloud
That floats on high o'er vales and hills,
When all at once I saw a crowd,
 A host, of golden daffodils;
Beside the lake, beneath the trees,
Fluttering and dancing in the breeze.

Continuous as the stars that shine
And twinkle on the milky way,
 They stretched in never-ending line
Along the margin of a bay:
Ten thousand saw I at a glance,
Tossing their heads in sprightly dance.

The waves beside them danced; but they
Out-did the sparkling waves in glee:
A poet could not but be gay,
 In such a jocund company:
I gazed - and gazed - but little thought
What wealth the show to me had brought:

For oft, when on my couch I lie
In vacant or in pensive mood,
They flash upon that inward eye
 Which is the bliss of solitude;
And then my heart with pleasure fills,
 And dances with the daffodils.

I. About the Poem

The words 'Daffodils' and 'Wordsworth' go hand in hand with each other. This is the one of the most famous poems in the English language, and it was composed in 1804, two years after Wordsworth saw the flowers while walking by Ulls water on a stormy day with Dorothy, his sister. His inspiration for the poem came from an account written by Dorothy. In her journal entry for 15 April 1802 she describes how the daffodils 'tossed and reeled and danced, and seemed as if they verily laughed with the wind, that blew upon them over the lake.' Wordsworth published his poem, I wandered lonely as a Cloud, in 1807. He altered it several times, and the final version, published in 1815, is simply a revision of the original, the new lines and vocabulary perhaps reflecting the changes in his lifestyle and where he saw himself in the social hierarchy.
Although Wordsworth's 'Daffodils' is one of the most famous and widely read poems in the English language, daffodils were probably not Wordsworth's favorite flower. He wrote no less than three poems about the tiny Common Pile wort (Celandine) which blossoms in early spring.

II. About the Author

Benjamin Robert Haydon 002.jpg

William Wordsworth was born on April 7, 1770 and died on  April 23, 1850.
He was a major English Romantic poet who, with Samuel Taylor Coleridge, helped to launch the Romantic Age in English literature with their joint publication
Lyrical Ballads in 1798.
Wordsworth's magnum opus is generally considered to be The Prelude, a semi auto biographical poem of his early years that he revised
and expanded a number of times.
It was posthumously titled and published, before which it was generally known as "the poem to Coleridge".
Wordsworth was Britain's Poet Laureate from 1843 until his death from pleurisy on 23 April 1850.

IV. My Reaction

A. Reaction Point - rhythm(リズム)
  • In this poem, Wordsworth uses good rhythms. Rhythm is the reaction of long and short or stressed and unstressed syllables.
  • 1.I wandered lonely as a Cloud~      2.Continuous as the stars that shine  And twinkle on the milky way~ 3.The waves beside them danced; but they Out-did the sparkling waves in glee~         4.For oft when on my couch I lie In vacant or in pensive mood
  • This poem separates four paragraphs it is good balance.

B. Reaction Point - imagery(自分の想像で絵を作成し、視覚的に記述言語、想像)
  • This poem has many imagery it makes people do. Imagery is visually descriptive language that creates pictures in one's imagination. There is my favorite imagery expression in this poem.
  • I wandered lonely as a Cloud That floats on high o'er vales and Hills, When all at once I saw a crowd, A host, of golden Daffodils.
  • The expression makes us imagine that we are walking along the way at the part very much and meet beautiful daffodils suddenly.

C. Reaction Point - personification(擬人化)
  • In this poem, Wordsworth uses many personifications. Personification is giving human characteristics to something non human. There are three personifications I like in this poem.
  • Beside the lake, beneath the trees, Fluttering and dancing in the breeze.
  • Ten thousand saw I at a glance, Tossing their heads in sprightly dance.
  • The waves beside them danced but they out-did the sparkling waves in glee.
  • Wordsworth uses personification to show the daffodils flutter in the wind and those are beautiful.

D. My General Opinion

I like this poem because it shows beauty of the daffodils and I can imagine that I am walking the way where the flowers are blooming.
I think Wordsworth writes that it was actually experienced .
Because this poem is very real.
But there is a question. Why the person in this poem was wandering lonely?
I want to know this reason.
And I read this poem, I want to read more. Wordsworth's poems and know the person. So I think I'll examine the things.
